#MY SEXY SATURDAY - A NIGHT TO REMEMBER

NOTE: Blogger is misbehaving tonight. Kindly disregard the paragraphing. I suspect a poltergeist has invaded it.

My 2K short story, A Night to Remember, appeared in the Exquisite Quills' 2014 A Holiday Anthology Volume 2. The anthology is still free on Smashwords and Barnes and Noble. I'm developing my story into an extended novella or novel.

SETTING: Marlee's car skidded into a ditch in a blizzard, and Jim, a Search and Rescue volunteer, offers to let her spend the night in his home because the road to hers is blocked.

“I’m not used to spending nights in the homes of strange men, but I’ll take the offer. I could’ve died out there if you hadn’t stopped for me,” Marlee said.
“I promise I won’t jump your bones,” Jim said.
“Ditto.”

His laughter warmed her, and he put the car in gear. Marlee thought it took all his skill and strength to make it the few blocks to and into his garage.

Pain flared in her elbow and she guarded it as he helped her out of the car.

He unlocked the mud room door. “We’ll leave our wet things here.”

REMEMBERING ELLA WITH JOY

Hubbie and I are grieving the loss of Ella, the precious cat whose care we assumed after our daughter-in-law developed a life-threatening allergy to cats. She and this son had had Ella from the time she was a few months old, so the reaction was a shock.

Ella was ten, and we knew she would end her little life with us - and break our hearts - but we didn't know we'd only have two years to enjoy her. We love cats, and our son and his wife needed us. Ella needed us. And we had already fallen in love with her sweet yet spicy, dark tortoiseshell temperament.

A year ago she developed several health problems, evidence her little body was giving out. She passed away in a pet ER at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 7 in respiratory and cardiac distress. Now we're the ones experiencing distress.

SWEEPSTAKES AND GUEST AUTHOR VICTORIA ADAMS

THE SWEEPSTAKES WINNERS ARE: $10 AMAZON GIFT CARD - MARTHA R., DANCING IN CIRCLES - MARY P., HOW TO SEDUCE A KNIGHT - ELF A.

CONGRATULATIONS, AND THANKS FOR TAKING TIME TO ENTER!

Today I welcome author Victoria Adams to my blog and website. On Rafflecopter, you may enter to win a copy of her book Dancing in Circles, a $10 Amazon gift card, or a copy of my medieval fantasy, How to Seduce a Knight.

Victoria lives in Ontario, Canada with her husband and pets. They're currently attempting to tame a feral kitten abandoned in their barn. When she isn't writing, she's in her garden or off in class studying Rags Sharqi, a form of Egyptian Belly Dance. She's been writing since she was little. As she grew up, she tells me her writing style matured. Now she focuses on contemporary romance for adults and sweet romance for new adults.

Victoria and I met when we had short stories accepted for A Holiday Anthology Volume 2, a 2014 collection of short, winter romances produced by the Exquisite Quills Yahoo Group. Her story, Gingerbread Dreams, is delightful. My story, A Night to Remember, has become a work-in-progress while I enlarge it to novella length. Both the 2014 and 2013 anthologies are available free on
Smashwords and Barnes and Noble

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

BOOKS4ME WON CHRISTIANA'S CHOICE, MY GIVEAWAY FOR THE ROMANCE REVIEWS ANNIVERSARY PARTY .

I SENT IT DIRECTLY TO HER KINDLE AS A GIFT, WHICH WAS EASY TO DO. (MY AMBER QUILL PRESS PUBLISHER'S WEBSITE CAN DO THE SAME FOR PURCHASERS THERE.)

EVEN IF YOU AREN'T IRISH YOU MAY GET PINCHED IF YOU AREN'T WEARING GREEN TODAY. AT LEAST THAT'S THE WAY IT WAS WHERE I GREW UP IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.

I HAVE SOME IRISH IN ME BLOOD, AND MY HUSBAND AND I ENJOYED A TOUR OF GREAT BRITAIN SOME YEARS BACK. HERE SOME PHOTOS OF IRELAND.

THE IRISH SEE THE HARP, NOT THE FOUR-LEAF CLOVER, AS THE SYMBOL OF EIRE, OR IRELAND. THE ANCIENT HIGH KINGS PLAYED IT, AND WORE WIDE GOLD BANDS ON THEIR UPPER ARMS AND GOLD THROAT COLLARS THAT EXTENDED ALMOST DOWN TO THEIR PECS.

ON THE LEFT IS A GOLD CLOAK
FASTENER.

BELOW YOU'LL SEE A COTTAGE IN A REPRODUCTION OF AN EARLY IRISH VILLAGE.
IT'S ON THE SITE OF BUNRATTY CASTLE, WHICH WE TOURED. THE MOAT IS GONE, BUT THE CASTLE IS NEXT TO A RIVER, AND THE CASTLE HAD PLACES ON EACH FLOOR THAT ACTED AS "TOILETS" WHERE WASTE WAS CARRIED DOWN TUBES TO THE RIVER, WHERE THEY WERE CARRIED AWAY BY THE FLOWING WATERS.

THE CASTLE WAS QUITE PLAIN AND SPARTAN. SOLDIERS BUNKED ON THE GROUND LEVEL, AS I RECALL.

WE HAD STOPPED EARLIER AT BLARNEY CASTLE, BUT IT WAS HOT, THE LONG LINE INTO AND UP TO KISS THE BLARNEY STONE WAS CROWDED. THERE WAS NO RAILING ON THE PART OF THE STAIRS AWAY FROM THE WALL, AND THE WHOLE THING MADE ME CLAUSTROPHOBIC. I DO NOT MISS NOT HAVING KISSED THE STONE.

IN A PUB IN THE RECREATED VILLAGE, I ATTENDED A CEILAGH--AN IRISH PARTY--HAD DINNER WITH OTHER TOUR MEMBERS WHICH CONSISTED OF THREE DISHES WITH POTATOES! THE POTATOES WERE DELICIOUS, AND SO MUCH TASTIER THAN WHAT WE HAVE IN THE STATES.
TO THE RIGHT ARE PIECES OF BROUGHTY GOLD IN ONE OF THE DUBLIN MUSEUMS.

BELOW IS AN ANTIQUE SILVER CELTIC AGATE BROOCH.

CRAZILY, I HAD NO IDEA THE IRISH WORE KILTS! I THINK THEY WORE THEM BEFORE THE SCOTS DID. I BELIEVE THIS WAS A MEMBER OF THE CELTIC THUNDER SINGING GROUP. BELIEVE ME, THEY'RE REALLY SEXY WHEN THEY SUDDENLY APPEAR IN THEIR KILTS TOWARD THE END OF A PROGRAM.

HOPE YOU HAD A CHANCE TO WATCH A PARADE, OR HAVE A GREEN BEER OR A MCDONALD'S GREEN SHAKE AND SOME MERRYMAKING WITH FRIENDS OR FAMILY TO CELEBRATE.
